There are many different varieties of grass. The main Warm Season varieties are; Bermuda, Zoysia, St. Augustine, and Buffalo. Fescue is our Cool Season variety. Each variety has different types. For instance, TifWay 419 and TifGreen 328 are types of Bermuda. Although they are both Bermudas, they are different in many ways. Using the Variety Chart, The FAQ section of this website and the Spec Sheets to the right of this page will help you decide which variety is right for you. WHEN TO PLANT When shopping for sod, there are a couple of things to consider. The first thing to consider is the time of year you are planting. At Tri-Tex Grass, we harvest year round. There are times of the year that are more ideal than others. The most ideal time to plant sod is the Spring and Fall. Because moisture is important to newly planted sod, these two seasons provide mild enough temperatures during the heat of the day so the moisture is not lost in evaporation. Do not be mistaken, the Summer and Winter months are perfectly good times to plant. Just remember these factors: Summer - increase your daily waterings to compensate for the heat Winter - remember to water even though the grass is dormant. This is also important for grass that has been established for years as well. The moisture protects the root system from cold temperatures. WHAT TO CONSIDER Because there are so many types of grasses available it can be confusing choosing the right one for your application. The grasses are divided into three different groups; one group being the variety that will do well in full sun, one that will do well in partial shade, and one that will do well in heavy shade. Click HERE to view our full sun varieties Click HERE to view our partial shade varieties Click HERE if you are covering an area with heavy shade This would be the first step in determining the right variety for your application. WHAT DOES IT COST The price per square foot ranges from variety to variety. Another factor to consider in figuring up the cost is delivery and installation (if applicable).
